SERMON ON THE MOUNT (37)

“But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it.” – Matthew 7:14 (AMP)

For many ages, man has always been founding ways to get to God, devising every means he knows in order to serve God in his own way. But none of the ways devised by man can actually lead him to God in the right way. Jesus Christ is the Way, as He said in John 14:6 and in this passage, He highlights two different ways – the Broad Way and the Narrow Way.

On the Broad Way, anything goes but on the Narrow Way, only few things go. Both ways have two different outcomes or destinations, the Broad ends in destruction and the Narrow ends in life. Many walk the Broad Way because it is easy, convenient and less demanding but only few find the Narrow Way because it is not easy, less convenient and highly demanding.

Jesus Christ is the Narrow Way that leads to life. If you want to have life, you need to find Christ. Everyone who doesn’t have Christ will end up in destruction, no matter what he possesses on earth. Religion gives the alternative to Christ but it cannot lead to life. You have to come away from religion into a working relationship with Christ. This is the way to have life. You must be willing to walk through the highly demanding narrow gate for you to enter into life. It takes the process of Discipleship. Are you yoked for this process? Check well and walk as appropriate. Blessings.

Practical Application: Have you ever given a thought to the Narrow Way as narrated by Christ? What do you understand by it? And what are the things that cannot journey this path you?

Confession: My citizenship is in heaven where I desire and long for always. I forsake everything that holds me as a weight of any sort. I run this race with focus and patience.
