THE PRAYER OF INTERCESSION (2)

“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” – Ezekiel 22:30 (KJV)

Having had an understanding of intercession and how God has put on every believer a call to be an intercessor for the people around them and even to those they don’t know, it is expedient to know that intercession is a delight to God.

Intercession is more than a gift, it’s a calling. There is no believer that doesn’t have the call of an intercessor on them. Because, as long as you are praying for someone, you are an intercessor.

An intercessor must live a righteous and obedient life, he or she has compassion for others, must be faithful and consistent in prayer, trusts God’s promises, and also is sensitive, attentive to the voice and the  leading of the Holy Spirit. These qualities are important and beneficial to an intercessor.

There are lots of benefits in being an intercessor, in praying for others and strengthening others in faith. Some of these benefits are; lives are transformed, the Church is strengthened, nations experience God’s mercy, God’s will is accomplished, the one praying grows spiritually and becomes more compassionate.

Daily, the Lord looks for those who would stand in the gap for other people, those who would rise up and pray for their fellow believers, unbelievers, community, family, nation and the world at large. The question remains, would you answer like Isaiah and say, “Here I am, send me?”

Action Point: Pray for someone, a friend, a family, church, or even the nation, today. Stand in the gap for someone today.

Confession: I am born of God and the love of God dwells in my heart. I am filled with compassion for others and I stand in the gap for them.
