Proverbs 3:5-6 (AMP)

Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].”

Marriage is one established by God, and He is very much interested in leading His children to His will for their lives. God still leads His children in matters of the heart. He may not write a name in the sky, but He speaks through His Word, inner peace, wise counsel, and the leading of the Holy Spirit. The key is to surrender your desires to Him. When your will aligns with His, He’ll make your choice clear.

Many singles are falling into error because they have replaced seeking God’s will with seeking personal interest, desire, and ‘spec’. If you remove God from the equation, you will never get it right.  Many only remember they have a God they can consult when it comes to marital matters, but neglect Him in other areas of their lives. The best thing is to build a relationship with God and carry him along in every area of your life.

Don’t be an emergency Christian who only runs to God at crucial points in life or time to make decisions. For married couples, hearing God’s voice doesn’t stop after marriage. He still guides you in every decision, including parenting, finances, and purpose. Having an established relationship with God will let you know that you need God in marriage as much as you needed Him when you were making the choice. Don’t sideline God in your marriage; such doesn’t end well.
