Matthew 7:24 AMP
“So everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, will be like a wise man [a far-sighted, practical, and sensible man]who built his house on the rock.”
What a thing is founded upon is of utmost importance to the survival of that thing. Marriage is not a union that should be founded upon ephemerals. The foundation of a godly marriage is not beauty, wealth, or compatibility; it’s Christ. Christ is the solid rock upon which godly marriages are built.
Storms will come: disagreements, financial struggles, or waiting seasons, and these storms will come regardless of the foundation. But when a couple builds their home on obedience to God’s Word, their marriage will stand. A marriage built on beauty and wealth will never stand or survive during seasons of challenges.
Singles should focus on becoming whole and spiritually grounded before marriage, and couples should continue growing together in the Word and prayer. Singles should ensure they build their relationship on Christ and make him the foundation of their union. They should not go after their idols as many do.
What makes the difference is the amount of God’s Word you live by as a couple. Couples who are firmly grounded in Christ and who live daily by His Spirit have fulfilled homes and can weather storms better. Let no one deceive you: the best way to have a godly home is by being a Christian genuinely before and even in marriage.
Confession: By the Spirit of God, I build my home on Christ, and I have a home that radiates His glory.
