“If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.” – John 15:7 (AMP)
In John 15, Jesus Christ continued to have a discussion with the disciples which was centered around prayer and what makes the prayer of a disciple powerful indeed. The name of Jesus is so powerful that tremendous things happen through it but the name doesn’t just work for anyone on a deeper level.
On a basic level of faith, the name of Jesus can make the impossible become possible and can transform the life of a sinner but when it comes some deep matters that involve being a disciple, having the Word of God deeply rooted in the heart and living in obedience to Jesus is very important for the name to work.
Being a Christian means that you are a disciple of Christ and that you live by the words and principles of Christ. You need to know that the devil does not fear how many times to you call the name of Jesus if you live perpetually in disobedience to His words. After moving from the basic level of faith into a deeper walk with the Lord, your voice in prayer counts on the premise of your obedience to the Master.
Many believers wonder if the NAME is no longer powerful or effective like when they first came into the faith but that’s not the case. The question to be asked is if they are still living and abiding in the One who has the name. Praying in the name of Jesus means praying under submission to the authority of Jesus and this makes the name powerful that demons flee when they hear it. A believer who doesn’t live under the authority of Christ cannot have the name work for him as expected. Under whose authority are you submitted, self, Satan or Jesus’?
Reflection: Under whose authority am I truly submitted? Think deeply on this.
Confession: I am firmly joined to the Vine. I have strength and nutrient for growth. I do not wither.
