Joshua 1:8 (AMP)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall read [and meditate on] it day and night, so that you may be careful to do [everything] in accordance with all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will be successful.”
One of the experiences many believers think to be impossible is to be intimate with the Holy Spirit. Many assume it’s something bogus and unachievable but they seem to have forgotten that the Lord won’t require an impossible experience from us. The Lord God told Joshua to read and meditate on the Law day and night in order that he might make his way prosperous.
How do you build intimacy with someone you don’t read, nor listen to? One important tool for building intimacy with the Holy Spirit is reading, studying and meditating on the Word. If we neglect the written Word, it becomes difficult to be close and intimate with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not dumb. He speaks, first of all, through His Word and then, through personal conversations and communications.
Meditating in the Word of God is synonymous to having conversation with the Author of the Word in your heart. How you become close with the Holy Spirit is not first by going on long days of fasting or doing several days of vigil, but it starts from paying attention to His Word and treasuring His Words in your heart. One who disregards the Word of God can never be intimate with the Holy Spirit.
When you have constant conversations with the Holy Spirit, it reflects in the output of your life. Your life is always a reflection of who you converse with most often or who you listen to. Therefore, believe it to be true that you can be intimate with the Holy Spirit if you will start from the place of His Word.
Confession: I pay attention to and meditate on the Word as it helps me to commune with the Holy Spirit.
