Many believers complain that they cannot sustain their burning for the Kingdom. Often, the blame is placed on the devil, saying things like “the enemy is quenching my fire.” But in this matter, I think differently.
Who dares to stop a heavy-duty vehicle in motion except the driver? Who quenches a blazing fire except fire extinguishers or firemen, usually invited by the supposed “victims” of the fire outbreak?
In the same way, we must understand this truth about spiritual fire: the fire of a true firebrand is rarely quenched by external forces. It is most often extinguished by internal neglect.
One of the major ways believers quench their own fire is by refusing to consistently torch others with the same fire they carry.
What do I mean by this?
You cannot keep hearing the Word, watching demonstrations of power, following anointed men to meetings, sitting and sitting, yet doing nothing, expecting to remain on fire for long. Eventually, you will dissipate. You will feel empty, not necessarily because you fell into sin, but because you refused to use your fire.
Fire that is not released will fade.
A matchstick is never a threat while it remains unused, but the moment that lighted matchstick is applied to dry paper, wood, or any combustible material, it reproduces itself on a larger scale, either destructively or productively. Its relevance is proven by its ability to ignite something else.
So it is with the believer.
Do not deceive yourself into thinking you are growing simply because you are always listening and never speaking, watching and never doing, attending and never engaging. Growth that does not translate into impact is an illusion. When revelation is not expressed, it turns into stagnation.
If you want to keep your fire burning, burn something.
Teach what you are learning.
Share the burden God places on your heart.
Disciple someone.
Pray with people.
Step out in obedience.
Fire is sustained by release.
Keep your fire burning by burning something.
May the Lord grant you understanding. Amen.
Grace to you
