“The Lord graciously remembered and visited Sarah as He had said, and the Lord did for her as He had promised. So Sarah conceived and gave birth to a son for Abraham in his old age, at the appointed time of which God had spoken to him. Abraham named his son Isaac (laughter), the son to whom Sarah gave birth. “ – Genesis 21:1-3 (AMP)
Several miracles happen, not really because the recipients fulfilled with precision their own part to play in the process, but because God is always faithful to His Word and He honours His covenant to His people. The Lord God promised Abraham that Sarah would be the one to bear his child and not another woman. What this means is that even if a hundred women give birth to children for Abraham, if none comes from Sarah, then God’s Word has not yet been fulfilled.
Miracles don’t answer to human logic, they answer to the word of God and His faithfulness. Sarah was definitely older than Hagar, her maid but God insisted that Sarah would conceive despite the fact that they’ve looked for an alternative to have the result they desired. God ensures that His Word comes to pass ultimately to prove and establish His faithfulness, and many times not necessarily because you really waited with all your heart or was convinced the promise would be fulfilled.
Praise God! Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac. Miracles are real and if there is anything you should believe in at this time of your life, it is that miracles are real and they are meant for you too, not just for some sets of people. You cannot just live life with a lot of struggles and have nothing to show for it. You can have that well paying job. You can be married even when everyone concludes that you are too old for it. You can have your own child, no matter what the doctor has said. You can graduate with an excellent result in school. The word of God activates miracles beyond limitations and barriers and you must believe the Word.
Dear believer, if you struggle to believe in miracles for yourself, it will be difficult for you to believe in miracles for someone else. Your life is meant to be a template which will bring others closer to God. You are important to God and your comfortability matters to Him. You are not an afterthought. And if there is anything going haywire in your life, get into the Word. Hold on to God’s promise. Don’t look for an alternative for Him. God never fails and thus, His Word does not fail as well.
Reflections: Do I truly struggle to believe in miracles for myself? Don’t I think miracles are for some set of people?
Confession: I am of God and the miraculous is home to me. I have testimonies of what God has done in my life and I am able to bring others to believe as well. For me, miracles are real and they are manifested in my life daily.
