I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES (13)

“When the containers were all full, she said to her son, “Bring me another container.” And he said to her, “There is not a one left.” Then the oil stopped [multiplying].” – 2 Kings 4:6 (AMP)

God is so powerful that He can bring something out of nothing, create the seen from the unseen and there is nothing that can limit the power and wisdom of God. Wasn’t this how He made the heavens and the earth and all that is therein? Of course. But Scripture teaches a truth that also needs to be considered and thought about. An empty bowl cannot receive water more than its capacity.

The widow of the son of the prophets went to meet Prophet Elisha who gave her instructions to follow in order to experience her miracle which she did. But the oil did not stop flowing because God’s power couldn’t produce more or because the woman didn’t want more. The oil stopped flowing because there were no more empty vessels to pour into. You have to learn from this. Your capacity will determine how much you can receive.

The woman wished she had more empty vessels but her kids told her that they had no more and the oil stopped flowing immediately. There are times you see asking God for a miracle but you do not have the capacity to receive what you are asking for. God does not waste resources. One who has not emptied himself cannot receive more from the Lord. And one who does not have the required capacity cannot receive what God has purposed to give.

You actually need to stop blaming God for the delay in the response to your prayers and then begin to look inward to check if you are the reason the miracle you expect has not yet arrived. One of the things God does when you pray and the answer is delayed is to use that period to build capacity in you. You are asking for a spouse but you have a bad character, God needs to work on that first. You want a well paying job but you are lazy and inconsistent, that needs to be fixed as well. You want to have your own children but you treat other people’s children as trash, that’s got to be dealt with. You need money but you are wasteful, you’ve to to watch that closely.

Whatever miracle you ask God for needs a certain level of capacity to receive it. One of the prayers you should pray often is that the Lord will enlarge your capacity to receive all that He has for you. Don’t be a waster. Wait on the Lord until you helped and enlarged in capacity.

Reflections: Do I have the required capacity and character to receive and properly manage the miracles I am praying for? How am I limiting the flow of God’s power in my life?

Confession: I have increased capacity and I am able to receive all that God has for me. I do not limit the move and power of God in my life. For me, miracles are real and they are manifested in my life daily.
