The Power of Words (2)

Proverbs 10:19 (NKJV)

“In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”

Every human will be judged by how they used their tongues. The Scripture instructs believers how to use their tongues in ways that bring glory and honour to God. The tongue of a man is as powerful as a two-edged sword, it can save or destroy. What the tongue produces is a function of the contents of the heart.

Your tongue is the most potent weapon in your body. The kind of tongue you have is determined by what rolls out of it. If your tongue is regularly used for dirty slangs, worldly music, abusive words and the likes, the devil marks it as his and uses it for his biddings.

On the other hand, if your tongue is used to preach the gospel, if the word of God regularly comes out of your mouth, if you use words that are seasoned with salt and grace, then God marks it as his own. He touches that tongue with a coal of fire and every word that comes out of it will come out with fire. Learn to bridle your tongue and use it for the Kingdom of God.

Confession: I fill my heart with God’s words that my tongue may speak words that bring grace.
