“I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD. The Good Shepherd risks and lays down His [own] life for the sheep.” – John 10:11 (AMP)
A Shepherd is one who cares for and oversees the sheep. A sheep is an animal that relies on the Shepherd for survival in all ways. Ever since the fall of man, there hasn’t been anyone qualified to die for man until Christ came who chose to lay down His life for the sheep.
Everyone who has received the Lord Jesus has now become sheep in the hands of Christ. Jesus Christ is the true Shepherd. No one takes care of the sheep like the Shepherd.
You must live your life as a sheep truly if you would enjoy the care and attention of the Shepherd. There are times you would want to do certain things yourself like providing for yourself, protecting yourself from evil but you have always failed to do so because it is not your duty.
You must learn to always rely on the Shepherd for care and vitality. No matter the level of your spiritual growth, do not stop being a sheep in the hands of the Lord. There are many who have turned themselves to goats and have proven to outgrow the cares of the Shepherd.
The sheep knows his Shepherd and the Shepherd also knows His sheep. The question is, do you truly know your Shepherd or you are just pretending to know Him? You must follow the Lord as a sheep would follow the Shepherd. Be humble enough to follow Him, for it is in this that you will enjoy the benefits of following Him.
Reflections: Do I see myself as a sheep under the care of the Shepherd? Do I walk in ways evident of the life of a sheep truly?
Confession: I am born of God and I overcome the evil of this world. Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. I live to make a difference and the Kingdom of God is expressed through me.
